About the Role
As a Senior Software Engineer focusing on Rust, you will build and evolve the core capabilities of a modular, self-hosted data platform. This role centers on product engineering, where you will ship features that enhance the developer experience and expand system functionality. You will own features from design to rollout, ensuring the platform remains fast, reliable, and maintainable. Working in a remote-first environment, you will collaborate with cross-functional partners to translate complex user requirements into pragmatic, production-grade technical solutions that impact a global developer community.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and implement core platform capabilities and product features using Rust.
• Translate product requirements into technical specifications, including API design and architecture plans.
• Develop maintainable domain architectures with strong test coverage and thoughtful abstractions.
• Manage the full feature lifecycle from initial design documentation to post-release iteration.
• Collaborate with front-end engineers and product managers in an asynchronous, remote-first environment.
• Conduct code reviews and create technical documentation to uphold high engineering standards.
• Enhance team execution through technical mentorship, pairing, and pragmatic decision-making.

Requirements

• 3+ years of production experience with Rust.
• Significant background in backend engineering and API design.
• Deep understanding of systems engineering, including concurrency and distributed systems.
• Proven ability to design and evolve resilient, maintainable software architectures.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for remote-first collaboration.
• UK/Europe timezone is preferred

• Experience with data-intensive systems, including databases, streaming, or storage engines.
• Background in building developer platforms or public-facing APIs.
• Proficiency in performance profiling and optimization within Rust.
