The ideal candidate will take ownership of complex projects, guide technical decisions, mentor junior developers, and build high-performance, reliable software using Rust. This role requires deep expertise in systems programming, concurrency, and performance optimization, with a strong focus on producing maintainable, safe, and efficient code.
Key Responsibilities:

 - Write safe, concurrent, and efficient code following Rust best practices and idioms.
 - Lead development of advanced features and systems using Rust.
 - Review and optimize code for performance, safety, and scalability.
 - Mentor junior and mid-level developers through code reviews, guidance, and training.
 - Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to define and refine technical requirements.
 - Troubleshoot and resolve critical systems-level issues, providing long-term solutions.
 - Integrate Rust applications with existing systems and third-party services.
 - Deploy and monitor Rust applications in production environments.
 - Work with DevOps teams to optimize build processes, deployment pipelines, and implement CI/CD practices.
 - Streamline development workflows, improve overall development efficiency, and adopt automation tools for infrastructure and configuration management.

Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
 - Minimum 10 years of professional software development experience.
 - At least 5 years of hands-on Rust programming experience.
 - Proven experience as a Lead Developer or in a similar senior technical role (minimum 3 years).
 - Strong understanding of memory management, concurrency, and systems programming concepts.
 - Experience with Rust ecosystem tools, popular crates, and async programming frameworks such as Tokio or async-std.
 - Knowledge of performance profiling and optimization techniques.
 - Experience with advanced automation platforms (e.g., SaltStack) for infrastructure and configuration management.
 - Familiarity with AWS, GitHub, and GitLab pipelines.
 - Excellent debugging skills for systems-level and concurrent programming issues.
 - Ability to write clean, maintainable, and well-documented Rust code.
 - Self-motivated, quick learner, and adaptable to new technologies.

Preferred Skills:
- Experience leading development teams in complex system projects.
 - Strong collaboration and communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
 - Experience with monitoring and observability tools for production applications.

Work Environment:
- On-site at Georgia DHS, Metro Atlanta.
 - Collaborative, fast-paced environment with opportunities to work on cutting-edge systems programming projects.
