About the Role
We are currently looking for an expert (m/f/d) for our client to provide technical advice , design and further development of the existing laboratory operating system for heterogeneous HiL (Hardware-in-the-Loop) setups.

Location : Dresden (full time)

The overarching goal of engaging the external service provider is to provide technical consulting, design, and further development of the existing laboratory operating system for heterogeneous hardware-in-the-loop (HiL) setups at the Dresden site. The provision of these services is intended to ensure stable, high-performance, and scalable operation of the platform, enabling automated, flexible, and intuitive access to physical test hardware and its efficient resource utilization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Analysis, design and software development: Technical analysis of existing system requirements as well as independent design, implementation and optimization of high-performance, system-level software using the Rust programming language.
• Network and infrastructure integration: Development, configuration and integration of high-performance network components and protocol stacks within a Linux-based system environment.
• Hardware-related system integration: Technical evaluation, driver development and software-side interface integration for commissioning, control and interconnection of real hardware equipment components (hardware bring-up).
• Architecture and quality assurance: Development of technical architecture decisions for the future-proof further development of the platform, as well as conducting code reviews to ensure compliance with defined quality and clean code standards.
• Testing procedures and stabilization: Planning, execution and documentation of software-based system tests as well as subsequent error analysis to correct technical malfunctions until transfer to stable laboratory production use.
• Knowledge transfer and mentoring: Preparation and execution of technical coordination meetings, workshops and code review sessions for the purpose of subject-related knowledge transfer in the project environment.

Requirements:

• Excellent knowledge of Rust, but other programming languages ​​do not determine you either.
• Excellent knowledge of networking (protocols, stacks, performance)
• Excellent knowledge of low-level Linux development; knowledge of nothing is an advantage.
• Excellent knowledge of hardware and a strong affinity for hardware equipment.
• Fluent German and good English
