About the Role
The Brest site hosts our digital services activities and Thales’ expertise in the development, integration, and maintenance of maritime patrol and surveillance systems, electronic warfare, sonar systems, and airborne anti-submarine warfare systems, as well as digital services operations.
You will join the Software Division of the Electronic Warfare Department, within the Detector team of about fifteen people, contributing to research and experiments assessing the use of Rust in embedded software for critical systems. The goal is to industrialize Rust development (CI/CD, test feedback, etc.) and compare performance and behavior with the existing operational solution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop expertise in Rust and existing projects
- Study shadow development specifications (parallel development) and complete embedded code
- Verify code through the selected testing framework
- Set up and automate a CI/CD pipeline and cross-compilation for the hardware target
- Conduct a comparative benchmark between the Rust program and the operational one
Requirements:
Are you eager to work on real-time embedded software?
You are in your final year of engineering school, master’s, or equivalent in embedded computing and possess the following skills:
- Knowledge of embedded software programming
- Familiarity with Linux, cross-compilation, TCP, threading, Bash, etc.
- Proficiency in C programming and ideally Rust
- Experience with Git (configuration management)
- Knowledge of Jenkins and Docker is a plus
