About the Role
We’re looking for a designer who codes. Someone who is in a codebase every day and understands the details and realities of developer workflows firsthand. You’ll help us craft a tool that’s not only beautiful and simple, but also powerful, intuitive, and a true delight to use.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end user experience, ensuring Zed feels intuitive, cohesive, and awesome to use for developers
• Design simple, effective, and clean interfaces that empower users and allow for scalability
• Help shape the product roadmap and build a strong vision, guiding the team toward the future of software development
• Work directly in Rust source code and collaborate with a small team of engineers to fully implement the features you designed
• Develop, maintain, and evolve Zed’s design system to make building Zed smooth and easy

Requirements

• You love designing in code as much as in Figma and exploring developer tools
• You're detail-oriented and have great taste
• You enjoy operating on the bleeding edge, work well with ambiguity, and ship
• You are excited to learn Rust and get your hands dirty creating interfaces in Zed's custom-built UI framework, GPUI

Preferred Qualifications

• Background in developer tools
• Familiarity with the Rust programming language
