About the Role
Reusable launch systems are the key to seamlessly connecting Earth and space. An instrumental ingredient to enabling a rapid launch cadence is the ability to make informed and automated decisions quickly and backed with high quality data. That is our goal for the data team at Stoke, our software empowers our engineers and provides them the ability to automate and improve the efficiency of their day-to-day tasks. As a Backend Data Platform Software Engineer on the Data Team, you will be responsible for contributing to the design and implementation of Stoke’s backend service architecture for data. The ideal candidate will possess solid cloud and computer science fundamentals, experience in backend software development with an emphasis on delivering with quality. They also have the curiosity and desire to learn skills quickly and work collaboratively with a team.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and scale the infrastructure supporting Stoke’s Data APIs, Infrastructure and Pipelines
- Design and develop robust solutions for monitoring, observability, and deployment of key data services
- Write maintainable code with unit, integration and end to end tests
- Collaborate with developers to ensure designs are implemented accurately and meet design specifications
- Contribute to excellence in operations including maintaining and improving our CI pipeline and independently supporting an on-call shift
- Learning and growing with new technologies and emerging trends
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field / experience
- 3 - 5 years of experience in software development
- Professional experience with one or more systems programming languages (Python, Rust, Golang, etc)
- 2+ years of professional experience in Rust strongly desired
- Experience with core AWS services and infrastructure design including tools like EC2, S3, Fargate, Lambdas, and IAM
- Experience with Parquet and relational databases in analytics workflows
- Experience with high volume data pipelines and processing, specifically time series data and supporting technologies ( InfluxDB, TimescaleDB, etc )
- Experience with infrastructure as Code tools, such as Pulumi or Terraform

Compensation
- Level 2 Range: $117,600 - $176,400
- Level 3 Range: $147,00 - $220,500
- Level 4 Range: $183,700 - $275,600
