Job Description
About Schaeffler
The BSW Platform Organization is a central component of software development at Schaeffler. Our focus is on providing generic, scalable solutions for integration into a wide range of Schaeffler products – from innovative chassis systems to intelligent drive technologies. We develop safety-critical automotive software and offer you the opportunity to apply modern technologies and programming languages directly in practice. Flexible working hours and an innovative environment create ideal conditions for valuable practical experience and personal development.

The basic requirement for an internship at Schaeffler is proof of enrollment at the time of the internship. This position is available starting in February 2026 for a period of 4-6 months.

Key Responsibilities:
- Assistance in the conception and development of ideas for using Rust in the AUTOSAR Basic Software (BSW)
 - Porting or converting existing AUTOSAR MCAL drivers from C to Rust
 - Investigation and analysis of the interaction between C and Rust code
 - Integration of Rust-based drivers into a C-based BSW runtime environment
 - Performance comparison between Rust drivers and the original C drivers for large configurations
 - Conducting a more in-depth analysis at the assembler level to evaluate the generated machine code (if interested)
 - Investigation of the advantages of object-oriented concepts in BSW through the use of Rust

Requirements:
- Studies in computer science, electrical engineering or a comparable field
 - Initial experience in embedded programming, preferably with C (knowledge of Rust is an advantage but not required)
 - Very good written and spoken German and English skills
 - Confident use of MS Office applications
 - Interest in modern programming languages and embedded software architectures
 - Independent, structured and solution-oriented way of working
