About the Role
Requirements:

• A senior-level software engineer with 7+ years developing high-reliability software in Rust or modern C/C++
• Experienced in embedded systems (Linux, RTOS, or bare-metal) and comfortable working close to hardware
• Skilled in writing concurrent and asynchronous code, optimizing for performance, and building fault-tolerant systems
• Comfortable collaborating across avionics, payload, digital design, and mission architecture teams
• Open to relocating onsite within 3 months (Santa Barbara or Arlington required)

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, architect, and implement embedded flight and payload software in Rust for mission-critical spacecraft systems
• Develop requirements, system interfaces, and detailed technical documentation
• Build and maintain command-and-control software for spacecraft subsystems and peripheral electronics
• Collaborate closely with hardware, avionics, digital design, GNC, and mission solutions engineers
• Optimize code for memory, performance, and reliability in resource-constrained environments
• Present high-level technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders

What does this position pay?
Compensation is determined by several factors which may include skillset, experience level, and geographic location.

The expected range for this role is $160,000 to $210,000 per year. Please note this range is an estimate and actual pay may vary based on qualifications and experience.
